To the Editor: After the report of Hittner et al. (Dec. 3, 1981, issue)1 on the use of vitamin E in the prevention of retrolental fibroplasia, regular intramuscular injections of vitamin E were given here to all babies weighing less than 1500 g at birth who needed supplemental oxygen.2,3 Vitamin E (Ephynal, Roche) was given as a single intramuscular dose (25 mg per kilogram of body weight per day) daily until feedings were tolerated, and then 100 mg per kilogram per day was given orally.
