Abstract

Sexual reproduction is reviewed for Chlamydomonas species with emphasis on Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and Chlamydomonas moewusii/eugametos. We first analyze gametogenesis, the mating reaction, zygote formation/maturation/germination, and formation of vegetative diploids from the perspective of cell biology; we then analyze these topics from the perspective of molecular genetics.
