Abstract
The feasibility of using quantitative scintigraphy to measure the number of adherent platelets and neutrophiles on the Cardiopulmonary bypass (CBP) equipment and in the specific organs is examined. The study used a pig model of CPB, employing a microporous polypropylene sheet membrane oxygenator (COBE Duo) and centrifugal pump (Biomedicus). The influence of a surface coating of the CPB equipment was also evaluated based on an amphiphatic molecule.
