Abstract

The elimination of thiophenol by copper(I) from readily prepared precursors leads in good yield to several useful phenylthio-subtituted Diels-Alder dienes including (Z)-1-phenylthio-2-methoxy-1,3-butadiene which yields a m-methoxy adduct with methyl vinyl ketone.
