Abstract

(Figure Presented) Bacterial acyl-homoserlne lactones upregulated an uncharacterlzed gene cluster (bta) In Burkholderla thallandensls E264 to produce an uncharacterlzed polar antibiotic. The antibiotic Is Identified as a mixture of four bactobollns. Annotation of the bta cluster allows us to propose a blosynthetlc scheme for bactobolln and reveals unusual enzymatic reactions for further study.
