N2 - A new method for synthesizing thioacetal crown is reported for the effective synthesis of 7-methoxycarbonyl-2,4,9-trithiaadamantane. Application of this intermediate in the synthesis of 7-azidocarbonyl-2,4,9-trithiaadamantane, a photoreactive surface linker for photolithographic chemical patterning on self-assembled monolayers on gold surfaces, is also reported.
