Abstract
Cyanocrylates is a topical hemostatic agents that is considerably used by the vascular surgeons to treat anastomatic bleeding. The effectiveness of these agents in local hemostasis or full heparin reversal and activation of the patients own blood clotting factor are still to be evaluated. Cyanocrylates, the grail of topical sealants stops the anastomotic bleeding at the source by creating a mechanical seal at the leak sites. Cyanocrylates achieves more rapid hemostasis at all time intervals after clamp release, as compared to the oxidized cellulose alternative. The agent is comparatively easy to apply and appears to have low toxicity.
