Abstract
In patients with valvular disease, shunting produced by transseptal catheterization for valvular disease has been described,67 even with cases of documented persistence.89 Our study demonstrated that transseptal catheterization for radiofrequency catheter ablation of left-sided accessory pathways acutely produced a detectable intracardiac shunt in 6 of 12 patients who had no previous evidence of structural cardiac abnormality or shunting; the clinical significance of this finding remains to be determined.
