Abstract
We studied whether the National Heart, Lung, and Blood institute's Clinical Alert recommending coronary artery bypass graft surgery over balloon angioplasty for patients with diabetes actually changed practice patterns. There was no change in the rate of percutaneous coronary intervention use among participating institutions after issuance of the Clinical Alert.
