Abstract
The advent of laparoscopic techniques for esophageal surgery provides a minimally invasive approach with known advantages for patients with esophageal motility disorders. This new modality has resulted in a resurgence of the surgeon’s role in management of esophageal disorders and has dramatically changed the operative approach to the distal esophagus.
