A safe, effective method to obtain complex/exotic deformity correction non-operatively Upright patient positioning and halo anchorage avoids morbidity from supine positioning and head halters Advantages/indications: Rigid deformity, especially kyphosis, wherein acute correction carries increased neurological risk Osteopenia, which compromises effective acute instrumented correction Pre-existing respiratory compromise/thoracic insufficiency syndrome sufficient to compromise anesthesia or other external means of deformity treatment Contraindications: Pre-existing neurological deficit Intra-canal mass lesion (extradural, intramedullary) or significant canal stenosis
