Abstract
Chronic ankle pain is a common presenting complaint in orthopaedic surgery. A careful history and physical examination are paramount in order to arrive at the correct diagnosis. Ancillary imaging testing may help confirm the diagnosis. The clinician should recognize that both intraarticular and extra-articular pain generators can be responsible for the subjective complaints.
