Abstract

Mitotic entry is an irreversible cell-cycle transition that requires the robust, rapid activation of cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (Cdk1). In this issue of Developmental Cell, Vigneron et al. (2018) identify cyclin A-Cdk1 as the factor triggering mitotic entry through the phosphorylation of Bora, an activator of the kinase Aurora A. Mitotic entry is an irreversible cell-cycle transition that requires the robust, rapid activation of cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (Cdk1). In this issue of Developmental Cell, Vigneron et al.
