Presentation of Case A 75-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of a colonic carcinoma, right ventricular mass, and pleuritic chest pains. The patient was in vigorous health three months earlier, when a physical examination was normal; he continued to play tennis doubles regularly and to take part in ballroom dancing. A stool specimen gave a negative test for occult blood. One month later he had a “boring,” nonpleuritic pain in the left scapular region.
