The Foundation is supported by the 4 major thoracic surgery professional societies: the AATS, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association (STSA), and the Western Thoracic Surgical Association (WTSA). The TSFRE provides fellowships and research grants to surgeons and surgical trainees in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Funding Information: Research funding is available through the National Institutions of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute, or the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute as either participants in already established projects or through a supplemental project to a major grant.
