N2 - Soluble extracts from rat liver cytoplasm contained substantial endoprotease activity which was totally dependent on calcium ions. This activity was accounted for by two distinct proteases which were separated by anion-exchange chromatography. One protease was half maximally activated by 7 μm calcium while the other protease required 150 μm calcium for half-maximal activation.
