Abstract

The primary indications for the use of bioabsorbable polylactic acid (PLA) screws involve fixation of low-load periarticular fractures. Fractures and dislocations about the ankle provide an appropriate application for these implants. The authors' technique for open reduction and internal fixation of two such injuries-medial malleolar fractures and syndesmosis disruptions-is described.
