Abstract

IMMUNOGLOBULINS (Igs) are present on the surface of murine bone-marrow derived (B) lymphocytes^1-3. Combination of the membrane Ig and a specific antigen, together with the arrival of a signal from thymus-derived (T) lymphocytes induces B cells to divide and differentiate into antibody secreting plasma cells⁴. To understand the mechanism of that induction, it is necessary to know how Ig is attached to the cell surface.
