Abstract

To the Editor: Peterson et al. (N Engl J Med 297:341, 1977) have done a great service by conducting a study demonstrating that the healing of duodenal ulcer can be enhanced by a program of antacid administration. It is hoped that the antacid preparation used for this important study will soon be marketed so that physicians may prescribe for their own patients the only antacid regimen shown to be effective for patients with duodenal ulcer.
