Abstract
Summary form only given. To improve polymer blood compatibility the authors graft long alkyl chains to the polymer backbone. The alkyls mimic circulating free fatty acids for which albumin has high affinity. Studies show an albumin layer is rapidly formed which resists fibrinogen adsorption, enhances resistance to thrombus formation and reduces complement activation.
