Abstract

The performance evaluation result is presented for a new controller for induction and maintenance of hypotension using sodium nitroprusside. The main feature of the controller is its ability in accommodating the changes in pure time delays involved in patient response. The patient simulation results indicate that the controller regulates the level of mean arterial blood pressure quite satisfactorily despite drastic changes in patient response dead time.
