note = "Funding Information: Dr. Green was chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth-Hitchcock for 18 years. Remarkably, he was also principal investigator of the Dartmouth Center for Clinical and Translational Science called SYNERGY, which through its funding from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) and other sources provided resources for clinical research throughout the medical school. This position and the role as chair were no doubt both full-time jobs. Before holding this position, he was a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and director of the Commonwealth Research Center. His work was truly translational with numerous publications on patient-based studies as well as animal models. Perhaps the most noteworthy was his large body of work on clozapine, particularly the use of this antipsychotic in people with schizophrenia and co-occurring substance use disorders. I had the pleasure of working with him in a research capacity, through a multi-center alcohol use disorder clinical trial sponsored by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).
