Abstract
Several investigators have reported that transcription stimulates some types of mitotic recombination in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We find that mutations that reduce the rate of trancription of the yeast HIS4 gene in vegetative cells reduce the frequency of mitotic, but not meiotic, recombination events.
