Abstract
In 1938, Frederic E. Mohs revolutionized surgical treatment of skin cancer, allowing for the precise localization and removal of tumor cells. When the use of the original escharotic paste was replaced by the fresh-frozen technique, same-day removal of cancer and subsequent repair of the surgical defect became possible.
