Abstract

Kashiwagi et al. identify a novel NREM sleep-promoting neural circuit distributed in the midbrain, pons, and medulla. All the neurons of this circuit are positive for the neuropeptide neurotensin, and neurotensin itself is involved in sleep regulation.
