Abstract

Percutaneous veretebral augmentation offers a minimally invasive approach to a painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture. Both methods allow for the introduction of bone cement in to the fracture site with clinical results indicating substantial pain relief in approximately 90% of patients. Kyphoplasty offers the possibility of lower pressures for cement introduction and the possibility of modest fracture reductions.
