Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) in childhood is very common and has been the subject of numerous original and review articles. There have been many guidelines and protocols produced for the investigation and treatment of UTI. In spite of intensive study some aspects of management are still controversial. The subject is made more difficult by the fact that several different generalists and specialists from different disciplines involved in the management may have different viewpoints. In this article, the best practice management of urinary tract infection categorized according to different age groups is reviewed. The clinical, laboratory, imaging assessments and treatment modalities for each age group are described.
