Ultrastructural observations on the acrosome of Lumbricus terrestris

The mature acrosome in the sperm of the earthworm, Lumbricus terrestris, is one of the most complex ever reported. Details of the ultrastructure of the mature acrosome are described and results of experiments designed to digest protein from the acrosome are discussed.
