Mechanisms of disease can range from congenital anomalies, infectious or inflammatory conditions, trauma, neoplasia, or disorders of organ function. This section addresses a wide variety of thoracic problems encountered by the pediatric surgeon, and gives examples of how these problems can be diagnosed and managed effectively.
