Abstract

In the current paper, our knowledge of FH mutations is reviewed, together with the insights they provide concerning structure-function relationships in the LDL receptor protein. We also discuss how, in several instances, these mutations have acted as guides for the contruction of additional in vitro mutations. The analysis of both naturally-occurring and synthetic mutations represents a powerful approach for the dissection of a membrane protein
