Abstract
This article traces the pathways involved in normal development and how they may be interfered with by the absence of audition and by family responses in the case of a deaf child. It defines behavioral problems, problems of family, and difficulties of motivation versus capacity that may eventuate, as well as the occasional more severe gradations of illness. From the standpoint of what are the normal developmental tracks, preventive suggestions are offered which can aid the deaf child in his growth towards health.
