Abstract

Partial physeal bars occasionally develop after injury to the growth plate of long bones in children. Subsequent disturbance of normal growth can result in significant deformities. Ideal reconstructive treatment would allow resumption of normal growth. This can be accomplished in some cases by the technique of surgical resection of the partial physeal bar. The indications for this surgery, the preoperative evaluation, and the precise surgical technique are described.
