Abstract
Elastograhy is a method for imaging the elastic behavior of soft tissues by means of ultrasonic echoes. A two-dimensional soft-tissue scattering simulation model based on finite element analysis was established. Radio-frequency ultrasonic back-scattering signals before and after tissue compression were obtained. The strain images were reconstructed by a cross-correlation based elastography procedure. The results show that the tissue lateral displacement introduces large errors into the reconstructed strain. Using ultrasound beams situated at the compression center and decreasing the compression ratio can reduce such errors.
