Rochalimaea infections

Organisms of the genus Rochalimaea cause a number of different disorders, most of which are thought to be zoonoses. Diseases caused by these organisms range from the relatively innocuous trench fever to the potentially fatal bacillary angiomatosis. All of these diseases are characterized by a prodromal febrile illness with varying degrees of lymphadenopathy. Vascular proliferation may be seen. Response to antibiotic treatment is variable.
