Retraction: Overexpression of proteins HMGA1 induces cell cycle deregulation and apoptosis in normal rat thyroid cells (Cancer Research (2001) 61 (4583–4590))

This article (1) has been retracted at the request of the editors. The editors were made aware of concerns regarding potential manipulation of data in the article. An internal review by the editors determined that multiple HMGY and b-actin Western blot bands appear to be duplicated in Fig. 1B. The authors were not able to provide the original data to dispel these concerns. A copy of this Retraction Notice was sent to the last known e-mail addresses for all 11 authors. Two authors (N. Munshi and D. Thanos) agreed to the retraction; three authors (M. Fedele, S. Battista, and A. Fusco) did not agree to the retraction; two authors (G.M. Pierantoni and M. Dentice) take no position; the four remaining authors (M.T. Berlingieri, G. Baldassarre, M. Santoro, and G. Viglietto) did not respond.
