Abstract

In this work we have theoretically investigated one of the possible mechanisms of conductivity of artificial phospholipid membranes-relay transfer of ions across the membranes. Expressions have been obtained for the conductivity of the membrane separating solutions with the same the concentration of the ion responsible for electrical conductivity in the membrane. The connexion between the relay model and the carrier model is discussed. An approximation of the two potential wells and also of chains with an arbitrary number of centres are considered. It is shown that all the results in these two cases concur. The current-voltage characteristics of the system have been found.
