Abstract

The management of patients with pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect is complex, in correspondence with the array of anatomic subtypes, and within subtypes there is substantial controversy about the optimal management strategy. In this chapter an overview of the most commonly encountered subtypes of PA-VSD will be presented, along with a review of the pathophysiology and presentation of the these subtypes, a description of the options for management, and a brief review of the outcomes for the variety of treatments which have been proposed.
