Abstract
Though urinary retention is quite common in frankly psychotic patients, those described here do not present overt psychiatric disease. Yet all responded to psychiatric management Patients of this category demand recognition and classification to avoid needless and fruitless surgical procedures. The proven contractions of the perineal muscles offer a clue to the pathophysiology of this condition in face of a normal bladder.
