Abstract
Posterior approach to the hip is commonly used in total hip arthroplasty. This article serves to review the anatomy and technique of the approach, as well as femoral and acetabular preparation for the final components. Recent published techniques for enhanced posterior flap closure are also discussed. Failure rates, as well as biomechanical strength of this type of closure is also discussed.
