Abstract
The various aspects of scintillating polymers in areas like photophysics, radiation stability, dye diffusion are discussed. Scintillating polymer means, when a particle or radiation falls on a polymer, it gives visible light as an output. The main characteristics of scintillating polymers are fast response time and high quantum efficiency. Two main radiation effects in scintillating polymers are reduction of fluorescence yield of the primary dopant and change in transmission of fluorescent light. Transmission measurements show that the scintillating polymer fibers irradiated slowly in air suffer greater damage than irradiated once and allowed to recover.
