Abstract
This chapter gives an overview of PTH/PTHrP biology in the vasculature, emphasizing relationships with respect to cardiovascular biology and pathophysiology. Brief comment is given on central PTHrP and TIP39 actions that impact cardiovascular physiology-and exemplify the complexities of CNS regulation that have yet to be fully explored. Attention is then turned to chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD) as a "perfect storm" of cardiometabolic risk arising in significant part from perturbed PTH1R signaling, and this discussion is used as a framework to highlight physiologically important interconnections within the emerging bone-vascular axis.
