Abstract
Laboratory physicians who take call for blood banks may face a variety of urgent decisions after-hours. Blood bank dilemmas often involve therapeutic as well as diagnostic procedures and require quick decision-making. General pathologists and resident physicians may lack extensive experience or confidence in these decisions, partly because blood bank policies change frequently.
