Periprosthetic femoral fracture treatment with an intramedullary extension sleeve. A technical note

Periprosthetic femoral fracture in patients with hip replacement can pose a significant challenge to the surgeon. The authors report a surgical technique that was utilized to successfully address the presence of a well-fixed, cemented, long-stem prosthesis. The authors do not recommend using this technique to remedy all periprosthetic femoral fractures. However, it may serve as a helpful alternative in extremely difficult situations.
