Abstract

Arachidonic acid is enzymatically oxidized by the rat liver microsomal mixed-function oxidase system, in the presence of NADPH and oxygen, to a wide variety of products. We report here, the identification of the major organic-soluble metabolites. They are the 5,6-,8,9-,11,12-, and 14,15-epoxy-eicosatrienoic acid derivatives of arachidonic acid.
