Abstract

The determination of the molecular weight of nucleic acids and proteins has found wide application in biosciences especially as it relates to the evaluation of molecular properties, separation, identification, purification, and characterization of nucleic acids and proteins. The commonly employed techniques for the determination of molecular weights (MWs) include electrophoresis, centrifugation, precipitation, chromatography, and mass spectrometry. In this chapter, authors presented in detail the MW determination of nucleic acids and proteins and the techniques employed for successful determinations.
