Abstract

Aldehydes are transformed into carbamoyl azides/acyl azides by pyridinium chlorochromate in the presence of sodium azide. Comparable oxidations modified with sodium cyanide generate carboxylic acids from simple aliphatic aldehydes whereas conjugated aldehydes are unreactive.
