Abstract

Summary form only given. Results of a screening study on various clinical applications of poly-lactides are reported. Rabbit models were used to evaluate poly-L-lactide fixation plates and screws at the femur, highly porous replacements at iliac spine and articular surfaces, and melt-spun fibers at the dorsal muscles. The mechanical and biological characteristics of these polymers are discussed.
