Abstract

Clinicians have received many different about the 1993 fifth report of the Joint National Committee (1), popularly called JNC-5. Some messages have been warmly supportive (2), others highly critical (3), still others providing different points of view (4). These three references are only a small sample of those published, but they reflect the major messages that have been published in response to the JNC-5.
