Abstract
Current thermal ablation technologies, while successful in the management of renal cell carcinoma, are limited in terms of the types of tumors they can be used to treat. Irreversible electroporation is a nonthermal tissue ablation technology that has been shown to ablate normal cells while maintaining extracellular matrix. These differences in technology appear to open the door to ablation of more centralized tumors where there is concern for ineffective treatment due to heatsink or urothelial injury.
