Abstract
A significant number of publications of vesicovaginal fistulae has engendered a better knowledge of the classification, causes, and diagnostic procedures for this unfortunate problem. Controversy still remains over the timing of repair, the type of approach, and the technical guidelines most likely to prevent their recurrence. In this article, we will briefly discuss the diagnosis and preoperative management of vesicovaginal fistulae, and then describe more extensively our transvaginal operative approach for repair of both nonradiated and radiated patients.
